The Story and Founding of T-Media
T-Media is a Finnish research company specializing in market and opinion research. The company’s goal is to help organizations measure and develop their most valuable intangible assets: trust and reputation. T-Media’s story began in 1997, when three students—Harri Leinikka, Petja Partanen, and Ari Nykänen—made their dream a reality by founding the company. They were supported in the company’s founding by Paavo Uronen, the rector of TKK.
The founders of T-Media bring together expertise from the technical and commercial fields as well as the arts. From the very beginning, we wanted to connect universities, the business community, and young engineers. We aim to help students discover new areas of interest in the professional world and help companies find the best possible talent. Initially, we offered compelling content, and soon we expanded our services to include research.
T-Media's Strengths and Achievements
Over the course of our more than 20 years in business, we have conducted over 2,000 Reputation&Trust for our clients in more than 40 countries. We are proud to have served all of our country’s universities, successful startups, respected family businesses, international publicly traded companies, as well as industry associations and public administration.
In 2020, T-Media was ranked among Finland’s 100 most successful companies in a survey by Kauppalehti. Our subsidiary, Third Rock Finland, has been recognized as a promoter of responsible business practices in our society. We have always prioritized quality and interdisciplinary expertise, and this is why we have grown steadily and achieved success. We are also committed to development and analytics, which has helped us weather even crises.
Future Plans and Tools
We are already looking ahead, and our goal is to monitor our clients’ reputations more broadly across a wider range of stakeholder groups and countries. Our backbone is Reputation&Trust, and our true strength lies in our expanding database, which enables more advanced analytics and the identification of impact. With this ever-expanding data, we are able to create added value for our clients and help them succeed.
T-Media’s co-owners have been the financial news agency TAT and Sanoma Media Finland. In 2018, Sanoma Media Finland acquired our original media business, allowing us to focus entirely on our research activities. Today, we are once again an entrepreneur-driven company with a strong shared focus and direction. Through our research, we verify the business impacts of reputation and help organizations develop their management practices in a more sustainable direction for stakeholders and society.
In the future, we want to continue our success story and help our clients grow their most valuable assets in both the Finnish and international markets—trust and reputation.
