SRV is the company that has seen the biggest rise in reputation among the ten largest companies in the construction industry
Lujatalo is the most reputable of the ten largest companies in the construction industry, while SRV is the one that has seen the biggest rise in reputation among the top ten. Pohjola Rakennus receives the highest rating on the ESG index, which assesses corporate responsibility.
T-Media’s annual “Construction Reputation&Trust survey examined the public’s perceptions and views of industry players in Finland. Of the ten largest construction companies and specialty contractors in Finland, Lujatalo received the highest reputation scores.
SRV, which had the lowest reputation last year, improved its reputation by 0.10 points to a reasonable level. This is the largest improvement in reputation among the ten largest companies in the construction industry.

The construction industry’s strengths: the economy, employment, and leadership
T-Media has been tracking the reputation of companies in the construction industry since 2018. In this year’s survey, companies received their highest average score for financial performance. The second-highest scores were for employer practices and leadership. Both of these reputation categories were rated at a moderate level, with a score of 3.37.

“The aspects of leadership and being an employer are often intertwined. Well-managed organizations are also considered good employers. Conversely, satisfied employees create an image of competent leadership. At the same time, being a good employer is one of the key factors in building people’s trust,” says Harri Leinikka, CEO of T-Media.
Interaction (3.20) and responsibility (3.31) emerged as the industry’s average weaknesses. In these areas, the construction sector lags behind the general level of companies operating in Finland. T-Media’s company basket received an average interaction score of 3.28 and a responsibility score of 3.33.
“Part of people’s experience is how they are listened to and how their needs are met. All the surveys conducted this year have shown that people have become more critical in the current climate, and a lot is expected of service providers,” Leinikka continues.
Pohjola Rakennus ranks highest on ESG metrics
Pohjola Rakennus performed best on the ESG metrics. The company received a score of 3.36 (on a scale of 1 to 5). GRK received the next-highest score (3.34).
ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. The ESG index tracks companies’ overall sustainability performance. Both Pohjola Rakennus and GRK perform better on the ESG index than the average Finnish company: T-Media’s ESG index for a broad basket of companies was 3.32 this year.
“Alongside consumers, investors and financiers are rapidly raising their expectations regarding corporate responsibility. The construction industry has room for improvement in social and environmental issues, but at the same time, there are significant opportunities from a business perspective. Energy-efficient and environmentally friendly solutions are currently of interest to both consumers and the public sector. Capital is also cheaper for responsible companies,” Leinikka notes.
This is how we conducted the study
The aim of the Reputation&Trust special survey for the construction sector was to assess the reputation of construction and design companies operating in Finland among the general public. The study used Reputation&Trust, which tracks the reputation of the companies surveyed across eight different areas: governance, finance, leadership, innovation, interaction, products & services, employer practices, and sustainability.
Data for the survey was collected via an online questionnaire between April 25 and May 30, 2022. A total of 6,757 Finns participated in the survey. The survey’s target group consisted of Finns aged 15–65 nationwide (excluding the Åland Islands). The sample was weighted to be representative of the population by gender, age, and region of residence.
