Riku Ruokolahti: A Few Words of Thanks

It took a great deal of help to create and complete this project. Without the support of the people around me, this journey would have been impossible. It’s wonderful that it’s now finished.

I am especially grateful to Anu Räsänen, a content producer at Third Rock, a sister company of T-Media. Anu’s steady hand and over 20 years of experience in various editorial roles served as the professional foundation I leaned on while writing this. Anu has mentored, encouraged, proofread, instilled confidence, and provided feedback on the texts and content throughout the entire process of creating this book. I needed all of this. Thank you.

The T-Media team of experts has also contributed directly and indirectly to the creation of this book. Among other things, I’ve had my texts reviewed by leading experts in various fields and consulted our data analysts on various matters. You have all given me your time and your unconditional support. Thank you, my dear colleagues.

I would also like to thank my business partner, Harri Leinikka, CEO of T-Media. Twenty years ago, a twist of fate led me to start working at T-Media. “Just for a little while,” I thought. At the time, there was no way to foresee where this path might lead. The path has been full of crossroads, but we’ve stayed on it. Now it has become a highway.

My original goal was for people to genuinely enjoy this book. My hard work would mean more if people actually read it. To make the book easy to digest, lively, and engaging, I wanted illustrations that would complement the content. Illustrator Harri Haarala helped me with this. Harri carefully immersed himself in the texts and crafted the illustrations from the content in a unique way. Tiina Kaarela, who works as a book reviewer and editorial secretary for the magazine Tieteessä tapahtuu, made a key contribution to packaging the book into a presentable form. In addition to the packaging, Tiina used her professional eye to polish the text, removing the “unnecessarily sharp edges” that I am prone to falling into. Thank you.

The book’s final layout was created by Eeva Meltio of Kraft Helsinki. The result leaves one with the impression that the design respects the content, and the end result is absolutely stunning.

At the heart of everything we do, however, are our clients. Many who have worked with us recognize that they have had very rich, and often even philosophical, discussions with T-Media’s experts. This is the kind of core interaction from which the expertise that drives the world forward is born. We cannot thank you enough for these consultations that enrich our lives and the world. Special thanks to Nina Elomaa, Jorma Mikkonen, and Lauri Sipponen for your courage in sharing your knowledge and experiences in this book.

Last but not least, I’d also like to thank my own family. The truth is, a project like this takes up a significant amount of mental bandwidth. No matter how you look at it, it always takes time away from something else. Thank you for your flexibility and for making this possible.
